Chelsea have made an 'important offer' for Napoli midfielder Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa, according to Italian media.

The Cameroon international is coming off a brilliant season in Serie A. Anguissa was a key - and quite underrated - part of Antonio Conte's Scudetto-winning side, and it seems that his form hasn't gone unnoticed.

Already in April, reports from Italy claimed that Chelsea had started taking a liking to the 29-year-old. Now, Gazzetta dello Sport doubles down on this reporting by claiming that the Blues have made an 'important offer' for the midfielder.

Napoli recently took up their option to extend Anguissa's contract until 2027, but the Italian outlet claims that there is a clause in his deal that explicitly allows him to 'evaluate' offers that come his way.

Anguissa made 35 appearances in Serie A under Conte, scoring six goals and providing five assists. The former Fulham midfielder currently has an Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) of €15.6 million.

Will Chelsea sign Anguissa?

Despite the reports coming out of Italy, Chelsea moving for Anguissa would come as a major shock. Not only do the Blues already have a wealth of midfield options at their disposal, but he also does not fit the age profile of players Chelsea have targeted in recent years.

That is not to say that Anguissa won't be on the move this summer. He is sure to have attracted attention with his excellent performances in the bygone season, but a transfer to West London seems doubtful.

In general, Napoli are facing a potentially explosive summer transfer window. Conte, despite leading the team to the title, could part ways with the club as he reportedly does not see eye-to-eye with president Aurelio de Laurentiis.

Indeed, there is currently a meeting taking place between the two to decide Conte's future. Already on Monday, De Laurentiis seemingly hinted at a departure of Conte by wishing him all the best in his future endeavours.

Although Kevin de Bruyne looks set to join the Partenopei, Conte and potentially Anguissa could jump ship this summer.
