Despite Marcus Rashford's encouraging form at Aston Villa, Manchester United have not raised their asking price, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The England international was sent out on loan to Villa Park in January after falling out of favour under Ruben Amorim, and he did manage to play himself back into form.

As part of the deal, Aston Villa negotiated a €48 million purchase option, but they are not expected to exercise this clause. Indeed, Rashford appeared to bid farewell to the Birmingham club in a social media post after their season concluded on Sunday.

Fabrizio Romano has now confirmed that Rashford is officially on the market and that suitors will be quoted that same €48m price. The 27-year-old is set to return to his parent club Man Utd, but he is unlikely to remain with his boyhood side beyond the summer.

Ruben Amorim is looking to make a clean break with Man Utd's past this summer, and he has already informed several players that they are no longer welcome at Old Trafford. Rashford is expected to receive the same treatment after failing to win Amorim over in the winter.

Rashford wants Barcelona

Rashford is understood to still dream of a move to Barcelona, just as he did in January. At the time, no transfer materialised because Ansu Fati refused to leave the Catalan giants.

Now, however, Fati is on his way out, which could pave the way for the signing of Rashford. The 22-year-old has agreed to join Ligue 1 side Monaco, although there have also been some odd rumours linking him to Chelsea.

Barcelona, for their part, are looking to beef up their wide options to ease the burden on Lamine Yamal and Raphinha. However, it is not yet clear if they are willing to spend €48m on Rashford considering that he will also command a sizeable wage.

Given that they already have two undisputed starters on the wings, they are looking for 'low-cost solutions.' Similarly, Rashford will surely not be keen to only play second fiddle to Raphinha as he is determined to be on the plane for the 2026 World Cup.
